LAKELAND — Thousands were expected to turn out Tuesday morning for the funeral of slain Lakeland Police Officer Arnulfo Crispin.

The funeral was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Victory Church, 1401 Griffin Road in Lakeland. Afterward, a procession was planned to take Crispin's body from the church for burial at Lakeland's Oakhill Cemetery, 4620 U.S. 98 S.

Crispin died last week after being shot while on duty Dec. 18 in the Crystal Lake area. He was 25.

Kyle Williams, 19, was arrested and has been charged with first degree murder.

The last time a Lakeland police officer was shot and killed was in 1932, according to Lakeland Police.

Among the thousands of people likely to attend Crispin's funeral are Gov. Rick Scott and former Gov. Charlie Christ.

A public visitation Monday night at Resurrection Catholic Church in Lakeland drew hundreds of visitors.

Lakeland Police Chief Lisa Womack greeted many law enforcement officers from across the state who came to pay their respects, according to reports.

Information from the Lakeland Ledger and Bay News 9 was used in this report.
