TAMPA — A Tampa police officer was taken to the hospital Sunday night after a man accused of drunken driving crashed into his cruiser, officials said.

Cpl. Robert Clifford and an unidentified person in custody at the time of the crash were taken to Tampa General Hospital, both with minor injuries, police said.

Bradley Weber, 20, of Land O'Lakes was arrested just after midnight with a blood alcohol reading of 0.180 — well above the 0.08 limit at which point the state presumes impairment.

Weber's pickup truck crashed into the cruiser about 11:30 p.m. at 42nd Street and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard as Weber attempted to make a turn, police said. The pickup drove into the southbound cruiser's path.

According to jail records, Weber is a bartender at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel &Casino. He was released on $500 bail Monday and faces a charge of driving under the influence with property damage.
