PINELLAS PARK — A 2-year-old boy was discovered Monday morning wandering around a neighborhood along 52nd Street, police said.
The child was unharmed and police recommended that prosecutors charge the boy's babysitter with child neglect.
A resident called Pinellas Park police at 9 a.m. and reported that the child was standing outside the resident's home, said police Sgt. Tracey Schofield. Police left the child in the care of firefighters at Pinellas Park Fire Station 33 while they canvassed the neighborhood.
Police found the house where the boy had wandered from, Schofield said. A babysitter was supposed to be watching the child but somehow got out of the house without any adults noticing.
The child was turned over to his maternal grandmother, his legal guardian.
