ST. PETERSBURG — A woman called 911 for help Saturday and while she was on the line, the dispatcher could hear as a man sexually battered and kidnapped her, police said.

Adam Keith Burns, 32, of St. Petersburg faces charges of kidnapping and sexual battery after the incident, which police say was caught on the 911 recording.

Arrest reports gave the following account:

Burns was driving a woman home from a party Saturday morning. Burns and the woman had engaged in "sexual activity" the night before, and Burns was upset with the woman because she had a boyfriend. He pulled the car into an alley near 44th Avenue N. The woman, who police did not name, called 911.

The alleged assault took place as the dispatcher listened. The woman screamed, cried, and repeatedly begged Burns to let her go, but he didn't. He drove off with her still in the car.

Police arrested Burns several hours later. Burns has four felony convictions for possession and sale of cocaine, according to the Florida Department of Corrections. He spent nearly a year in state prison and was released in October 2010.
