CLEARWATER — McMullen-Booth Road should re-open by 4 a.m. Thursday morning, county officials said.
A water main leak on Tuesday led authorities to close the southbound lanes between Curlew and Tampa roads. A contractor discovered the leak and determined it came from a drinking water line. Initially, officials thought the road would remain closed for several days.
They advised motorists to use U.S. 19 N and Belcher Road as alternate southbound routes. But by 9 a.m. Wednesday county officials announced that the water main was fixed. Crews were expected to fill and pave the excavated area and complete work by Wednesday evening. Later Wednesday officials said southbound lanes would re-open early Thursday morning.
