Severe thunderstorms are possible again Thursday after a round swept through the Tampa Bay region Wednesday night, bringing lightning, 45 mph gusts and much-needed rain.
Thursday's forecast calls for about a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day. The region will be mostly dry and breezy with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s.
A cold front moving into the region Thursday night and Friday morning should bring more rain and the chance for strong storms, including heavy rain and possibly hail, said Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez.
There's a slight risk of severe thunderstorms, she said.
The storms are expected to end by Friday afternoon. The difference should be noticeable. It will be cooler and drier with less humidity.
"We're expecting a nice weekend," Marquez said.
The highs Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be in the 70s and low 80s. Morning temperatures should be in the upper 60s and low 70s Friday and then drop into the 50s on Saturday and Sunday, according to Bay News 9.
"That's quite a change," she said. "Some of us haven't dropped below 70 the last few days."
