A Spring Hill man was accused Monday of stealing more than $20,000 in jewelry from a woman's home before selling the merchandise to area pawn shops.
Matthew Adam Iannacone, 20, of 12481 Winston Court, faces a charge of larceny and several counts of defrauding a second-hand dealer and dealing in stolen property, according to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office report.
The woman told investigators she did not see who stole her jewelry but indicated Iannacone had been inside her house several times around the time the valuables disappeared.
He is being held at the Hernando County Detention Center in lieu of $80,000 bond.
Just three weeks ago, records show, Iannacone was arrested on charges of dealing in stolen property and providing false identification to a second-hand dealer.
Also Monday, a Brooksville man was arrested and accused of stealing more than 13,000 pounds of steel shelving beams from the Sam's Club on Cortez Boulevard. At different times over a one-week period earlier this month, authorities say, Chad Jeffery Faucher, 37, and two other men not named in the sheriff's report, drove to the store and loaded the $3,000 worth of metal onto a pickup.
From there, investigators say, they immediately went to Patriot Metals in Brooksville where they sold the steel for scrap. Investigators say the two other suspects remain at large.
Faucher, who authorities say admitted to the crimes, faces two dozen charges, including theft. He is being held at the Hernando County Detention Center in lieu of $151,500.
