Max & Sam's Bar & Grill had its last night on Saturday. The steakhouse was the shared project of Linda and Craig Malogrides, for the past two years at its 1700 Park St. N location in St. Petersburg, in the space that used to be Saffron's, and then for four years on St. Pete Beach before that. Craig's health problems were the impetus for the closure. Linda says they will be looking for a new restaurant, probably at the beach, but that "everything is up in the air right now."
Ambitious Tampa newcomer poised to open
The new Grille One Sixteen location is looking close to completion, with a target opening date within the next two weeks. Carrollwood residents will be familiar with the concept — high South Beach style in a glamorous setting that seats 116 patrons. This new one at 612 N Dale Mabry Hwy. will be a misnomer, with more like 216 seats this time, but the space is looking equally stunning from recent drive-bys. Owners Terence Terenzi and Tom Schelldorf met years ago as principals of the long-closed Hops Bar & Grill.
