ST. PETERSBURG — A St. Petersburg man was hospitalized in serious condition Wednesday morning after he suffered a medical emergency while driving and crashed into a utility pole, police reported.
The crash happed about 8 a.m. on the 8900 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N.
Robert Gary Dull was driving north on MLK when he reportedly experienced an unknown medical emergency. His vehicle drifted to the right, brushing a utility pole in the 8500 block, and knocking off the passenger side mirror.
He continued northbound before veering off the roadway to the right, crossing 89th Avenue N and then striking another utility pole, police said.
Bystanders got to his car and were able to shut it off and start first aid. St. Petersburg Fire Rescue showed up shortly afterward and began advanced life support.
Dull was taken to Northside Hospital in serious condition, police said.
