Bicyclist ticketed after colliding with trooper in Spring Hill

SPRING HILL — A 25-year-old Spring Hill bicyclist riding the wrong way on U.S. 19 was injured Monday when he was struck by an unmarked Florida Highway Patrol cruiser.

According to an FHP report, Patrick S. Scott was riding south in the outside northbound lane of U.S. 19 about 10 a.m. when he collided with the Highway Patrol vehicle driven by Capt. Robert Ifft, who was attempting to turn onto the highway.

Scott was taken to Oak Hill Hospital in Spring Hill, where he was treated for minor injuries. Ifft was uninjured. Damage to the cruiser was estimated at $500. Scott was issued a citation for traveling in the wrong direction on the highway.
