BROOKSVILLE — A 27-year-old Brooksville man was charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Thursday in connection with a road rage incident.

Ryan A. Sears remained in custody Friday at the Hernando County Detention Center in lieu of $20,000 bail.

According to Brooksville Police, a woman called the Police Department about 7:30 p.m. and said that a man had pulled in behind her in the parking lot at Walmart on S Broad Street, gotten out of his car and approached her with a pipe in his hand. She said she feared that the man was going to harm her and her three children. When she called 911, the man left.

After an interview with a witness and looking at surveillance video from the store, officers located Sears. They said he admitted to approaching the vehicle with plans to attack the woman. He said the woman had cut him off in traffic.

Police said they found a metal pipe in Sears' car.
