THONOTOSASSA — Both directions of U.S. 301 were closed at Ohio Avenue Tuesday morning after a semitrailer truck carrying scrap metal collided with at least one other vehicle.
An unknown number of people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Florida Highway Patrol was called out to the scene at 6:44 a.m.
Four vehicles, including the semi, were involved in the crash. One of the vehicles spun off the roadway and hit a house. The semi tipped onto its right side on U.S. 301, spewing scrap metal across the road.
The road was expected to be closed for hours.
No additional information was immediately available.
