SEMINOLE — The man charged in the December killing of a convenience store clerk in Seminole was booked into the Pinellas County Jail Tuesday after he was extradited from Georgia.

Darius Duquan Bussey, 22, faces a charge of first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Mohammod T. Islam.

Islam, 37, was working Dec. 28 at the JFS Food Mart at 11815 Seminole Blvd., when a man entered the store and shot and beat him with a .25 caliber handgun before demanding cash, according to sheriff's officials. The robber, later identified as Bussey, fled without getting any money.

Bussey, who was visiting relatives in Seminole at the time of the crime, was arrested Jan. 2 at his home in Valdosta, Ga. He was held Tuesday in the Pinellas County Jail without bail.

Bussey confessed to trying to rob the store, deputies said. He told detectives where he hid the murder weapon, but the gun has not yet been located, officials said.
