TAMPA — Deputies obtained a warrant Friday for a man accused of driving away after he ran over a woman lying in the road.
Howard Earl Warren, 30, who has no known address, may have been driving a light-colored Nissan Altima built in the early 2000s. An Eye On Crime camera caught a driver leaving the scene of the fatal collision Aug.26, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. The cameras are installed in various locations throughout the county as a crime deterrent.
Shelley Jo Morganski, 45, of Tampa, was crossing E 124th Avenue at N 11th Street at 12:30 a.m. when she stumbled and fell into the middle of the roadway, deputies said. She remained on the ground until the vehicle struck her and kept driving. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Warren is being sought for leaving the scene of a traffic crash with death. He's been known to loiter in the area of N Nebraska Avenue and E Osborne Avenue area, deputies said. Anyone with information about Warren or this case can contact the Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200.
