TAMPA — A stretch of Bayshore Boulevard was expected to be closed for several hours Friday morning after a vehicle crashed into a pole and knocked down a transformer, police said.
Police closed Bayshore Boulevard between W Price Avenue and W Marlin Avenue after the 2:25 a.m. crash, potentially causing problems for people trying to take Bayshore Boulevard south to MacDill Air Force Base.
About 1,500 people lost power. Most had their power restored by 6 p.m.
Tampa Electric officials say it will take several hours to put up a new pole.
